Cappuccino Flint

History

Wonderful whirlpools in the stone resemble the pattern of water. When two flints are hit together they produce sparks. If the skin is cut using a flint blade, it heals very quickly, because of the flints antibacterial activity. All these “magical” properties mean that striped flint has been very desired over thousands of years. Between 3600 and 1600 BC, striped flint was excavated and then distributed in main land Europe. Stones were used to create axes and blades, which usually were used during magic rituals. More recently, flint blades have been used in contemporary surgery, including eye surgery. Only in the last 30-40 years has striped flint achieved great popularity within the jewellery business. Its unusual beauty, healing and magical properties has won many admirers.

Geology

Striped flint can only be found in one place on Earth – near Sandomierz, in Poland. This natural stone was formed over 150 million years ago, when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. The most popular theory being, that a colony of giant sponges died in the Jurassic Sea, creating concentric rings in this amazing sculpture. Broken stone presents beautiful stripes and rings in several interesting tints of white, black, grey, beige and brown. Its components are chalcedony and opal.

Antibacterial properties of cappuccino flint are a fact proven by scientist. Many people believe that this unusual stone has a strong anti-depressant influence, increases vitality, reduces tiredness and symptoms of stress, purifying the body from toxic deposits and rejuvenate skin.

Also known by the aptly creative name of Cappuccino Flint, the official name of this very rare and beautiful stone is striped flint. Not every one knows that it is even rarer than diamonds.
